I love Groupon. LOVE groupon. It seems recently there hasn’t been too much in my area but every once in awhile something awesome comes up.
Nadia has discovered the joys of flowers. She loves smelling them, picking them, and giving Momma huge handfuls of them. So when a Groupon came up for a You-Pick Lavender farm, Mountainside Lavender, I couldn’t buy it fast enough.
Mountainside Lavender is a family run lavender farm in the Chehalem Foothills. They have 20 varieties of lavender and over 2000 plants. In addition to the you-pick, they also sell a variety of lavender items like oils and decorations.
Being in the Northwest you can’t rely on the weather. We left our house where it was sunny and warm and drove across the city. Of course it was raining by the time we arrived, but luckily stopped just long enough to cut our flowers. Nicole was pretty into flower picking for about 10 seconds then decided chasing farm chickens and running around shoeless was considerably more fun. Nadia enjoyed it much more and would point to a stalk and say “pick it”.

By the end we had a huge amount of lavender, and thanks to Groupon the excursion and flowers cost $10.

The flowers are now drying in the garage and we plan on making lots of fun things with them.
